This concept art is copied from other artists. These were photoshop exercises for me to get into drawing concept art. Sometimes by copying work you can learn new techniques and things you may have over looked. I mainly draw with an animation style, so this helps me to branch out and take on another method.

Aarting Collection launched its first blind box series – Blankie – recently to a crowd of designer toy enthusiasts at MyPlasticHeart in NYC and also a few days later at Comicon. Its official, the toys are now for sale.

This groundbreaking series is the result of an online competition aimed at finding exciting new designers. Artists from all over the world submitted 196 designs, and over 150,000 toy lovers voted to choose the 12 designs that are included in this amazing series. The grand prize winner, Matucha, also designed the packaging. My Design is Yukan The Northern Kid or Blankie no. 11

This is a character concept for a children's book. I'll be working with a writer and coming up with the proper layout and over all design and feel of the book. So hopefully we'll be able to show some more stuff very soon, and possibly start on a few more book ideas in the next few years.

Another tshirt contest , another tshirt design, another waste of time.

The winner of the latest contest will win 15,000 euros. The process for entering is you design, you submit your work and then it gets placed in a voting area where the public can vote, the design with the most votes and feed back, wins. I cant even make the voting stage which leaves me to believe these contests are regulated or controlled to keep with company "standards".

For some reason this design was not selected or excepted into the voting area which has got me baffled. I would love to know why this image wont work as a t-shirt design? Any silk screening pros out there?

A process image from concept black & white to digital colour clean up in CS3. It took a few hours to get this put together, but it was fun. I got a lot on the go these days with odd jobs here and there, and cant wait to get into this 2009 fishing year. I guess a dream design job for me would be designing fishing lures for Strike King or Rapala, then testing them out...maybe one day?

Local fall fishing has been great. Never thought there would be fish like this 10 mins from home. This older fellow showed me a few tricks in taking hooks out. If it wasn't for him this fish might not of made it back into the water.

During the past week or so i came across an artist's blog, a great animation design artist i use to work with, named Mr. Crylic. He had posted on his blog, a toy design submission for a competition put on by Aarting Inc. There were many great design submissions entered, like pan-dah by crylic and ladybomb by mena, so i thought i'd give it a shot of my own. "Yukan" the northern kid, is a McCoy original design. This was a commissioned t-shirt designed for a local pub. Done back well over the course of seven months. I finally got my hands on a digital camera, to capture this final product. The design was made using Flash, then sent off to be pressed front and back.
